Shade-grown farms
We fund native tree planting so coffee grows under a forest canopy, the way it evolved to.
Clean water
Every partner farm treats its processing water before it returns to the rivers communities depend on.
Organic transition
We cover part of the cost and lost yield while farms move to organic certification.
A living income
Our price is tied to quality, not the commodity market. Women-led farms receive an extra 15%.
Our 2025 impact in numbers
Native shade trees
Planted across our 34 farms since 2021.
Net CO₂ from roasting
Offset through Amazon forest protection, Verra VCS.
Processing water treated
No untreated discharge into rivers since 2022.
Farm income vs. regional wage
Direct-trade price plus a quality bonus.
Bird species on our farms
Including four endemic to the Andean cloud forest.
Farms certified organic
Up from 23% in 2021, aiming for 100% by 2027.
Women-led farms
Paid a 15% premium over our direct-trade price.
Compostable or recycled packaging
Aiming for 100% compostable by late 2026.
The forest is the farm.
Coffee grown under native canopy ripens more slowly, building more sugar and brighter acidity. The shade isn't only good for the land; it makes better coffee.
We help each farm choose trees suited to its microclimate. Guamo, nogal and yarumo are common in our network, and they also give the family timber, fruit and habitat for wildlife.
Every liter returns clean.
Washing coffee can use up to 40 liters of water per kilogram. Where farms share rivers with their neighbors, that is a real responsibility.
Between 2021 and 2023 we financed ceramic bio-filtration tanks on all 34 farms, so processing water is cleaned before it goes back to the land.
Meet three of our farmers
Finca El Mirador
San Agustín, 1,750 mSince joining our network in 2019, she converted the farm to fully organic practices and planted 180 shade trees. Her Pink Bourbon scored 87, the highest in our portfolio that season.
Finca La Esperanza
Pitalito, 1,620 mHéctor Muñoz and his two sons farm 4 hectares in Pitalito. They pioneered the honey process in our network, and their lot is now one of our best sellers. They installed a bio-filter in 2021 with our support.
Finca Las Nubes
Acevedo, 1,900 mOur highest farm. Rosa Elena leads a cooperative of five women farmers who process their coffee together on shared equipment we helped finance in 2022. Their Geisha is our most limited lot.
Where we're headed
Carbon-neutral roastery
Renewable energy plus verified Amazon offsets. Reached in the second quarter of 2024.
Zero-discharge network
All 34 farms run certified bio-filtration for processing water.
100% compostable bags
Replacing the last recyclable liners with home-compostable film.
Every farm organic
Funding the transition costs for the farms still converting.
